In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war.
Over the course of the next 6 weeks you will be recruited to build, paint and play with one of the many factions of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Using only a ‘Start Collecting!’ box of the faction of your choice wage war against other newly recruited players and veterans alike. As time progresses you can increase the size of your army with new units and engage in objective based missions.
Do you have what it takes to lead your army to victory?

    NEW PLAYERS

Command armies of the grim universe of Warhammer 40,000 from the proud Space Marines of humanity to the foul Daemons that plague all races in the galaxy.

    VETERAN PLAYERS
This is your opportunity to start collecting, painting and playing with a brand new faction for 40k. How about taking up a faction that you otherwise wouldn’t play? Maybe you’ve been thinking about a new faction but not quite got around to it? Well now is the time! Get a ‘Start Collecting’ Box and begin your new project with the game you already love.

    SHOWCASE
Each week we'll be taking pictures and posting on the website some of the painted armies that you valiant general's dedicate yourselves to perfecting. Any points you earn from painting and playing will increase your chances of getting your work revealed to our online community and establish your armies presence to all of us.

    NOT FOR PLAYERS
Below is a table that pretty much shows what to run on each week and what changes to make. This is just a suggestion, if you feel you want to run it differently then feel free. The power level is supposed to up to. So on week three players can start playing games up to 30 power, week 4 up to 45 and so on. Important thing to note is the Deathwatch Getting Started box contains 32 power. Obviously is someone wants to play them don’t stop them but they likely won’t be able to develop as quickly as others

    Week Power Army Composition Scenario
1 0 Getting Started (no Battle forged) Only War
2 0 Getting Started (no Battle forged) Only War
3 30 Getting started plus additional units Foot hold
4 45 Getting started plus additional units Foot Hold
5 50 Any models Collected Hold the Line
6 75 Any models Collected Hold the Line

All objectives can be located in the rulebook in full detail. For the journeyman league I thought it would be best to keep the missions simple so as not to over complicate things so below is a summary of the rules to use.

Only War – The game ends when one player slays all of the opposing side or if 4 game rounds have resolved. In the event of models still being on the board after round 4 then whoever has slain the most power of their opponent wins. If points are matching then it is a tie.

Foot Hold – Place an objective marker in the centre of the table, make sure to measure the sides equally as the table size may be different. At the end of round three the player who has a unit within 3 inches of the objective and is not contested is the winner. The objective is contested if one or more enemy units are within three inches. Note that a single model in a unit is all that is needed to be within 3 inches to secure or contest the objective.

Hold the Line – Designate one player to be the defender at random. The defender has a deployment of 8 inches. The Attacker has a deployment of 12 inches. At the end of round 4 the defender wins if they have more friendly units in their deployment zone than the enemy. The enemy wins if they have more friendly units in the defenders deployment zone than the defender.
